Machine detection is a feature that identifies whether a call is answered by a human or an automated system (such as a voicemail or an answering machine). It plays a crucial role in both call forwarding systems and auto dialers, optimizing call handling in different scenarios.
1. Machine Detection in Call Forwarding
When a call is forwarded, the system will automatically detect if an answering machine is present. Instead of the machine's voicemail, it will play the voicemail set in CallHippo's number settings.
Additional charges of $0.02 /call will apply.
This helps businesses maintain control over unanswered calls and prevents personal voicemail systems from interfering.
Example Use Case:
A business sets up call forwarding from their CallHippo number to a personal phone. If the call goes to voicemail, machine detection ensures that the message is left in CallHippo’s voicemail rather than the personal device’s voicemail.
2. Machine Detection in Auto Dialer
- In auto dialers, machine detection identifies whether the call is answered by a human or an answering machine.
- If a human answers, the call is connected to an agent.
-
If a voicemail is detected, the system can either:
1. Drop a pre-recorded message automatically.
2. Skip the call and move to the next number, saving agent time.
Example Use Case:
A sales team using an auto dialer can avoid wasting time on voicemails and only speak with real prospects, improving efficiency and conversion rates.
Machine detection is useful in both call forwarding and auto dialer scenarios:
For call forwarding, it ensures calls are directed to the correct voicemail.
For power dialers, it increases productivity by filtering out voicemails.
How to Enable Machine Detection in CallHippo?
For Call Forwarding:
Log in to CallHippo at web.callhippo.com.
Navigate to User and Performance > Users.
Open Settings for the user you want to enable call forwarding for.
Go to the Forward to Device section.
Enable the Machine Detection toggle.
For Auto Dialer:
Machine detection can be configured while creating a campaign in the auto dialer.
Automatic Machine Detection – The system will disconnect the call if it detects an answering machine.
