If you're using CallHippo’s Power Dialer or Predictive Dialer, one essential feature you'll come across is the Campaign List. While these dialers automate and streamline your outbound calling process, they rely on campaign lists to know who to call.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through what a campaign list is, how to prepare and upload one, and how it integrates into your auto-dialing setup in CallHippo.


What is a Campaign List?

Campaign List is a structured Excel file that contains the contact details (names and phone numbers) of your prospects or customers. It serves as the contact base for your outbound campaigns.

This list doesn’t dial calls itself—instead, it works within the Power Dialer or Predictive Dialer to automate calling. Without a campaign list, these dialers wouldn’t know which contacts to target.

Where Can You Use a Campaign List in CallHippo?

Campaign lists are exclusively used under these CallHippo features:

  • Power Dialer

  • Predictive Dialer

  • Speed-to-Dial

Correct format of the Campaign list:


Before uploading a campaign list, it is important to download the template from the CallHippo dashboard and then edit it, in order to avoid facing any errors while uploading the campaign list to your desired auto-dialer.


How to download the Campaign list template: 


1. Log in to your CallHippo dashboard.


2. Navigate to the “Auto-dialer” option visible to the left side of your dashboard, and then click on the “Power Dialer” button.




3. Click on the blue colored “Download template” to download the campaign list template.




4. Once the template is downloaded, you can enter the names and phone numbers of the customers you want to reach out to below the respective columns, as visible in the screenshot below.


Important note: 

  • The most important information is to make sure that the names of the two columns, “name” and “phoneNumber” must remain unchanged and must be as it is in the downloaded format.

  • Any changes in these names will result in an error message when uploading the list.

  • Make sure that the numbers you input are all in the correct format.


I want to enter more information in the list. Can I do that? If yes, how?


Yes, you can enter more details of the leads, such as company name, website, email addresses, etc, in the campaign list. Please refer to the details below for how to achieve this.


You can add and edit more columns in the downloaded template, as visible in the screenshot below.




Important information:


  • The additional information filled against each contact/lead will be visible in a dialog box next to the dialer when the call gets connected in the assigned user's screen below.

  • Auto dialer will automatically skip the contact for which any of the two: ‘name’ or ‘phoneNumber’ cell is empty or not filled in the excel sheet.

  • If you have a CSV/XLSX file you’d like to upload, simply ensure that the information in the file matches the format outlined in the article. Using the provided template is not mandatory, as long as the data is structured correctly.

Q: Can I add extra details to my campaign list besides name and number?

A: Yes, you can add more fields like company name, email, or website. Just add new columns in the template without altering the default ones.


Q: Will the extra details I add be visible to agents?

A: Yes, additional information you add will appear in a dialog box on the agent’s screen when the call connects.


Q: How do I get the correct campaign list format?

A: Download the official campaign list template from the “Power Dialer” section of your CallHippo dashboard. This ensures compatibility when uploading.


Q: What if I change the column names in the campaign list?

A: Don’t change the column names. The headers must remain exactly as “name” and “phoneNumber”. Any modification will cause an upload error.


Q: Do I need to include a country code with phone numbers?

A: Yes, it's best to include phone numbers in full international format to avoid dialing issues, especially if you're calling globally.


Q: Can I edit the campaign list after uploading it?

A: No, once uploaded, the file cannot be edited within the dashboard. You’ll need to make changes in Excel and re-upload the updated list.


Q: Can I delete a campaign list after uploading?

A: Yes, you can delete old or unused campaign lists from the respective dialer section within your dashboard.


Q: What happens if I upload an incorrectly formatted campaign list?

A: You’ll see an error message, and the list won't be accepted. Always use the downloaded template and check for formatting or special character issues.


Q: How do I know if my campaign list was uploaded successfully?

A: After uploading, you’ll receive a confirmation or error message.

Q: Can I check for duplicate contacts before uploading my campaign list to avoid uploading the same contact multiple times?
A: Unfortunately, CallHippo does not have a built-in feature to check for duplicates during the upload process. You will need to manually check for duplicate contacts using Excel before uploading your campaign list.

Q: What happens if the "name" or "phoneNumber" cell is empty in my campaign list?
A: If either the "name" or "phoneNumber" cell is empty or not filled in your campaign list, the auto-dialer will automatically skip that contact and not include it in the dialing process.
