SMS (Short Message Service) and MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) are essential tools in modern business communication, enabling organizations to engage with customers efficiently. Understanding SMS and MMS

  • SMS: Allows the transmission of text messages up to 160 characters.

  • MMS: Extends the capabilities of SMS by supporting multimedia content, such as images, videos, and audio files, enabling richer communication experiences.


How to send SMS?


Method 1: Directly from the homepage of the dialer


1. Log in to your CallHippo dialer

2. Type the number you want to send SMS to

3. Click on the ‘Send Message’ visible on the dialer screen



4. Select from the list of your allocated numbers to send the SMS from, by clicking on the button highlighted in the screenshot below.



5. Enter the SMS content, and then click on the send button to send the SMS.



Method 2: From the ‘SMS / MMS’ option in the dialer


1. Log in to your CallHippo dialer.

2. Click on the Main Menu icon.

3. Click on the “SMS / MMS” option.

4. Click on the new SMS icon.

5. Enter the number and the  SMS content that you want to send in the respective areas.

6. Select the allocated numbers from which you want to send the SMS.



7. Click on the send button to send the SMS.



Method 3: Sending an SMS to an already ongoing SMS thread.


1. Log in to your CallHippo dialer.

2. Click on the Main Menu icon.

3. Click on the “SMS / MMS” option.

4. Click on the ongoing SMS thread from the SMS/MMs logs.

5. Enter the SMS content and click on the send button to send the SMS.

Note: When replying within an existing SMS thread, the system automatically uses the number that received the previous message in that thread. You will not have the option to select a different sending number.

Method 4: Sending an SMS to a saved contact


1. Log in to your CallHippo dialer.

2. Click on the Main Menu icon.

3. Click on the ‘Contacts’ option.



4. Select the contact from the list or search for a specific contact by using the search icon.



5. Click on the SMS icon to send an SMS to the selected contact.


How to check the incoming SMS?

1. Log in to your dialer.

2. Click on the Main Menu icon.

3. Click on the “SMS / MMS” option.

Note: If you have unread incoming SMS messages, the number of unread messages will be displayed in red.

4. The unread SMS will be displayed in bold and will have a red dot against it.

5. Click on it to view the SMS.

Note: You can filter the unread SMS from all the SMS as well.

Click on the three dots visible on the SMS / MMS section of the dialer and select the “unread SMS/MMS” option to use the filter.


How can I check incoming and outgoing SMS from the dialer?


Step 1: Log into your CallHippo Dialer.

Step 2: Click on the three horizontal lines and go to SMS/MMS section.



Step 3: Click on the SMS/MMS option. You will see two sections: SMS/MMS and Template.

To view received messages, click on the SMS thread to open the conversation and respond.


Step 4: You can click on the (+) Message Icon to compose a new SMS/MMS for your customer and send it from your respective number.


How to check the SMS / MMS logs directly from the dashboard?


1. Log in to your CallHippo dashboard.


2. Click on the SMS / MMS logs visible on the left of the dashboard.



The SMS / MMS Logs section offers a centralized view of all messages—both sent and received—associated with your account. For each message, you can see:

  • From: The sender’s number or name.

  • To: The recipient’s number.

  • Status: Whether the message has been sent, read, failed, etc.

  • Date & Time: The timestamp indicates when the SMS or MMS was sent or received.

  • SMS Log: Clicking the View button allows you to access the full content and details of the message, by directing you to the CallHippo dialer tab.

  • Integration Logs: If the message is tied to an integration (e.g., CRM or helpdesk tool), you can click the information icon to view related activity logs.

3. You can also filter messages by date range, download logs, or apply additional filters using the action buttons at the top right of the screen.

Q: Where can I see the SMS cost and status in the dashboard?
A: To view SMS costs and statuses:

  • Go to SMS/MMS Logs from your CallHippo dashboard by clicking the option in the left-hand menu.
