The Custom Caller ID feature allows you to display a different number—one that you already have access to—when making outgoing calls from your CallHippo number.

What does this mean?

By default, when you make a call using CallHippo, the recipient sees your CallHippo number. With the Custom Caller ID feature, you can choose to display another number that you already own and have verified. This helps increase the chances of your calls being answered and supports a consistent, professional caller identity.

Example:

Imagine your sales team is using CallHippo to place outbound calls. While they are calling from their CallHippo numbers, you want customers to see your company’s main business number—one that is already known and trusted by your clients.

With Custom Caller ID, you can set that main business number (which you own and have verified) to display as the caller ID. As a result, when your team makes calls, recipients see your official business number instead of the CallHippo number used to initiate the call.

Important:

  • Verification Required: You must verify ownership of the number you want to use as your Custom Caller ID. This is done through a one-time verification via a phone call, during which you'll receive a voice-based OTP.

  • Indian Numbers Not Supported: Due to regulatory restrictions, Indian numbers cannot be used as Custom Caller ID, even if you own or have access to them.

Why use Custom Caller ID?

  • Higher answer rates: Displaying a recognizable number increases the likelihood that recipients will pick up.

  • Professional branding: Present a consistent business identity across all outgoing calls.

  • Operational flexibility: Choose different caller IDs for different teams, departments, or regions.

Note: This feature is available in limited plans. Please refer to the CallHippo pricing page for current availability.

Note: This setting only applies to outgoing calls. If a customer tries to call you back, the return call will go to your Custom Caller ID number, not your CallHippo number.
