1. Can’t send or receive SMS – low or no credit

Error message: You might miss incoming SMS due to low credits, recharge now to get SMS.
Reason: Your free SMS quota may have been used up.
Solution: Add credits to your account to continue sending and receiving SMS.

2. Want to check if you've crossed your SMS limit or need an unlimited plan

Concern: I want to know if I’ve exceeded my message limit today. Is there an unlimited plan?
Reason: CallHippo is primarily a voice-focused platform.
Solution: We currently do not offer any SMS-specific unlimited plan. You can check your usage in the dashboard or contact support for details.

3. Sending SMS from a US or Canada number requires A2P add-on

Error message: Sending SMS from this number requires the A2P add-on.
Reason: SMS to US and Canada must be registered under A2P messaging guidelines.
Solution: Purchase the A2P add-on and complete the verification in the Number Settings. Once verified (within 2–3 weeks), you’ll be able to send SMS.

4. Team member is unable to send SMS from newly created number

Issue: A number was created and assigned, but SMS is failing.
Error message: Sending SMS from this number requires the A2P add-on.
Solution: Reach out to CallHippo support for assistance in checking the number setup and resolving the issue.

5. How to enable text messaging on your number

Concern: How do I turn on text functionality?
Solution: There is no toggle required. As long as your number supports SMS and is active in your account, you can send and receive texts from the dialer.

6. Not receiving OTPs from apps or banks

Concern: I’m unable to receive OTPs from WhatsApp, Telegram, or banking services.
Reason: CallHippo provides virtual numbers, which some third-party apps do not recognize.
Solution: Receiving OTPs is not guaranteed. These apps may not allow verification using virtual numbers.

7. No free SMS or insufficient credit

Error message: You don’t have free SMS or sufficient credits to read and send SMS, please add credits.
Solution: Recharge your account to resume SMS usage.

8. SMS not allowed for certain countries (e.g., Russia)

Error message: SMS/MMS services are restricted to Russia.
Reason: Some countries are blocked due to high risk of fraud and expensive rates.
Solution: If your business needs to send SMS to such destinations, please contact support at [email protected] to request access.

9. UK-specific restriction on SMS messaging

Error message: Sending SMS/MMS to United Kingdom numbers from other countries' numbers is restricted under United Kingdom country guidelines.
Reason: UK regulations prevent incoming SMS from non-UK numbers.
Solution: UK numbers can send messages only to other UK numbers. However, you can send international SMS from a UK number.

10. Number doesn’t support SMS

Error message: Sending SMS is not available in this number.
Reason: The number may be voice-only or not enabled for SMS.
Solution: Use a different number that supports SMS.

11. International SMS not enabled

Error message: Please enable International SMS services from Settings.
Reason: International SMS is turned off by default to prevent misuse and manage billing.
Solution: Admin users can enable this option from the Settings section in the dashboard.

12. Generic error while sending SMS

Error message: Something went wrong.
Solution:

  • Try a hard reload (Ctrl + Shift + R)

  • Log out and log back in

  • Clear cookies and browser cache

  • Try in an incognito/private window
